The role of the financial system in the transition to a low-carbon economy

3 organisations – 3 approaches

Investors and financial regulators have started to acknowledge their role in decarbonising financial markets & portfolios, as recently illustrated by the Decarbonisation Pledge and the French Law on the Energy Transition setting climate disclosure requirements for investors.

2°Investing Initiative, Carbon Tracker Initiative and the UNEP Inquiry are three organisations working with investors and policy makers on the integration of climate considerations in investment decisions to ensure the reallocation of capital to a low carbon economy.

The three organisations will introduce their theory of change, their activities and offer a first picture of the European and global context. In a panel, they will then analyse the current policy momentum and explore way forwards.

Time will be left for Q&A from the room. Participants will be invited to share their experience with financial regulation and policy making in relation to climate.

Program of the conference:

  • Stan Dupre, CEO 2°Investing Initiative
  • Anthony Hobley, CEO Carbon Tracker
  • Iain Henderson, United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI)
